Global Human Resources Program
February 2020

Ms. Kailey Cano traveled to South Africa in her role as presenter of comprehensive information concerning the Employee Well-Being Program, also known as the Staff Care Project.

Employee burnout is extremely common among humanitarian aid workers. The staff care project has been implemented to prevent employee burnout among Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) staff.

In her capacity as social work intern, Ms. Cano was tasked with providing training presentations for the human resources (HR) officers in order to train their staff upon their return to their regional offices. Additionally, Ms. Cano created and presented a training of self-care materials for humanitarian aid workers for the HR officers for their own use and to be shared with their staff. Additionally, Ms. Cano presented the draft Employee Well-Being Policy User Guide to the HR officers.
