Economic empowerment of women is an essential component for expanding young women’s roles and influence throughout Guatemalan society. HRI and ISWS began a pilot project to facilitate their entry into the economic sector, preparing and assisting them to establish micro-enterprises.
ISWS social work volunteer, Harriet Finck, MSW, MBA has been involved from the beginning; participating in the remote Phase 1 training: Life Skills and Leadership Training. She will also be an important part of Phase 2: Entrepreneurship Training, acting as Mentor to the young women participants. Ms. Finck will assist in guiding them through aspects of starting a small business, discussing best business practices as well as acting as an encouraging supportive resource.
