Welcome, Marguerite (Maggie) Fenwood, our first ISWS stipend recipient! She takes off for Kasese, Uganda on October 10. 2017. Maggie will be conducting a training for healthcare personnel and a needs assessment for patients of Marjorie’s Fund, an American based NGO supporting Type 1 diabetes patients in Uganda and Rwanda. Maggie is focusing on the community of Kasese, Uganda, a low-resource area with high levels of anxiety and stress when life-saving insulin is often unavailable. The project looks at the psychosocial aspects of living with Type 1 diabetes in this part of the world, giving health care providers and the NGO leaders valuable information, with the goal of improving the health and lives of these people.
